Issue nr. 22 - 15/02/2022

Like many organisations and programmes, TOY has experienced a kind of forced hibernation these past two COVID pandemic years. It has been a time to dig deep, regroup and (re)discover what is important in life. We are delighted to share the news that the ever- popular TOY Online Course restarts on 28 February. This newsletter also has information about new PhD research about intergenerational learning. In the events section, you can find out more about the Global Intergenerational Week in April and how you can get involved.

IGL as a pedagogical strategy in ECE: PhD research

Researching and generating new knowledge about intergenerational learning (IGL) involving young children and older adults has been an important part of the mission of the TOY Project since it began 10 years ago.

For the past 5 years Dr. Anne Fitzpatrick, one of the TOY Online Course tutors, has focused her attention on researching IGL as a pedagogical strategy in early childhood education (ECE).

Last month Anne was our featured blogpost author and she wrote about some of the most important findings and insights from her research.

You can read her blog here. It’s also possible to have free access to the complete PhD thesis here – recommended reading.

We congratulate Anne on this wonderful achievement.
