New edited book: Intergenerational Bonds

We are delighted to share the news of the publication of another book about IG practice involving young children. 'Intergenerational Bonds: The Contributions of Older Adults to Young Children’s Lives’ is edited by US-based researchers and authors, Mary Renck Jalongo and Patricia A. Crawford and published by Springer as part of their Educating the Young Child Series.

The book studies the many different ways in which the lives of the first, third and fourth generations intersect and the reciprocal benefits that can accrue from establishing positive intergenerational bonds. The unifying feature across the 16 chapters is that the authors view these relationships as a powerful influence on quality of life.

You can read more about the book’s contents and how to purchase it here.

Click here to read the interview Margaret Kernan, TOY co-coordinator conducted with the book’s editors about their motivation to work on this book and their thoughts about the place of IG work in scholarship and practice.
