TOY at the Childhood Studies Conference in Turku (FI)

ICDI presented the TOY approach and our research findings at the 7th Conference on Childhood Studies in Turku Finland. The conference was held from 5th to 8th June and over 200 delegates attended the rich plenary sessions and workshops. 

 

The theme of the conference was ‘Everyday life’ and TOY was presented to illustrate how children develop social relations with older adults in their communities.

We discussed how urban and social policies can enahnce intergenerational learning to build ‘generationally intelligent spaces’ where both young children and older adults can meet, interact and negotiate the share use of the environment.
